This is actually pretty sad. Knowing that I donated and built my entire production process around SoundBridge. Don’t get me wrong, it deserves to be in the same spotlight as Ablelton Live (standard?), FL Studio, Reaper, etc… In the music industry, it seems like your level of professionalism is tied directly to how much cash you can fork over. Nine out of ten YouTube tutorials have a backdrop of several keyboards, a monstrous mixing board, and enough guitars hanging that you could mistake them for crappy wallpaper. Unfortunately they get the recognition their wallets have bought them. – If you’re a shitty driver and you buy a Corvette, you’re still a shitty driver. Hopefully SoundBridge can catch up to the others and start to amass tons of YouTube videos, thus spreading the word and gaining respect.

For myself, I’ve searched my email for the ‘paid transition’ email, but it’s MIA. I don’t know the details surrounding this transition. The projected cost, supported updates, zero-day bug fixes, a fleshed out forum with more than 1 topic. 😉 I can only assume that SoundBridge will outprice my available funds as I’m on disability due to 4 too many brain injuries. After 30 years of programming, the ability to program literally disappeared over night. It’s incredibly difficult to grasp technical concepts, much less put them into practice. Ironically, my creativity was amplified several times over.

In order to fend off disappointment, I’m preemptively walking the plank. The process is going to suck as I pick through dozens of projects. Rendering what I can, securing the assets, recording all used VSTs, etc… Working in SoundBridge, you can’t help but to wonder when the shoe is growing to drop.

There is a certain sense of pride when it comes to being associated with SoundBridge. Other producers may dismiss it as a lowbrow environment only to turn around and knock out a banger. But like I said, the looming disappointment is weighing heavily on my mind. I’m actually finishing up a video for a song call Sacrifice tonight.

Time to eat crow. I’ve had a few other DAWs installed for a while and just stopped using them once I latched onto SoundBridge. Dusting them off has proven rather difficult as I’m so use to SoundBridge. I’ll start saving where I can. Like I said above, I can’t find the email that was sent, so all I can do is keep marching forward. If there is some downtime, I can jump over to video production while I sort this out.
