Acoustic Board

What Is an Acoustic Board?

An acoustic board is a special board made of sound-absorbing materials. Sound-absorbing material is inserted between two outer walls, and one of the walls is porous. Thus, the intensity of sound decreases when sound passes through an acoustic board. The production of heat energy balances the loss of sound power.

Application

Acoustic panels are used in various spaces such as halls, seminar rooms, auditoriums, libraries, courts, and music production studios. Placing acoustic panels on walls or ceilings is the best way to eliminate echo and reverb and reduce ambient noise in any room—sound waves reflecting off walls cause most sound issues. Therefore, strategically placing acoustic panels on your known reflection points will not only effectively clean up the sound in the room but also eliminate all echo and noise issues to the desired extent.

Room Acoustics Correction

Correcting the acoustics of a room has the main benefit of improving its occupants' well-being and acoustic comfort. Acoustic panels are used when a room's echo or sound resonance is too strong. This can be due to the materials used in the construction of the building (glass, concrete, or metal) or simply because the decoration is too minimalist. Echoing sound can often give the impression of unpleasant background noise due to the increased sound volume. Rooms with an excessively high resonance result in a permanent loss of intelligibility. This leads to tiredness and lack of concentration for their occupants. Regardless of the space concerned, if you carry it out correctly, the acoustic treatment is effective immediately (following a correct assessment).

Materials for Acoustic Boards

The materials used in making acoustic boards differ, which can significantly influence the sound absorption quality. Some interesting facts about this are:

  • Cheap materials like packaging foam will absorb sound much less efficiently than professional-grade acoustic wall tiles.
  • If the fabric you use to cover your acoustic panels is not acoustically transparent, it will negatively impact the effectiveness of your wall and ceiling panels.
  • Professional-grade acoustic wall and ceiling panels look fantastic. They blend seamlessly with your decor or enhance a beautiful interior design style.
  • Due to improved technology, the price of professional acoustic solutions has fallen dramatically. You can now acoustically treat rooms with top-end acoustic panel kits for just a tad more than it would cost to do it yourself.
